Team Oasis
After School Action
When Team Oasis was originally established in July 2003, we were founded on delivering dynamic and inclusive after-school sessions for local children.
We would work with a particular group of children for four weeks. During these sessions the children would go horse riding, bowling, ice skating, climbing and even skiing at The Runcorn Ski Centre.
The main objective of our Charity is to bring together children of all abilities and circumstances and therein breaking down barriers that existed at that time. Therefore, as part of our after school sessions we always included a regular trip to Calder Kids Adventure Centre in Hartshill Rd, Allerton. Calder Kids is a tremendous centre delivering fun and adventure for children with disability. The generously invited Team Oasis to visit regularly with small groups of able-bodied children. This proved to be an immense success and will certainly be part of our after-school sessions as they begin again in October.
In time we realised that the children needed to have permanent activities that they could engage with and as a result Team Oasis began to introduce permanent weekly sessions that all children could attend. These sessions included football, dance, drama and singing.
Obviously, over time, these sessions have expanded to the current attendance levels of over four hundred children attending each week.
Team Oasis community after school sessions begin again in May 2009.
